What is the Wolverine workout? In addition, and more importantly can you use it to build more muscle size and incredible six pack abs in less than 90 days?
That is the question I found myself asking. Hugh Jackman has once again transformed himself into the superhero... Wolverine, in the latest of the X-Men films -- X-Men origins Wolverine. (This film goes back to the beginning of the Wolverine character and fills in the missing pieces.)
Jackman was recently quoted as saying that he wanted to appear onscreen as someone who could rip your head off! If you have seen the trailers or any of the still shots from the movie then you know that he has achieved his goal.
Secrets of the Wolverine Workout
Michael Ryan Jackman's personal trainer for this film has a large depth of knowledge in not only training protocols but also nutrition. He has worked with the NFL Denver Broncos during their two championship seasons developing their strength training program. In addition, he has worked closely with Bill Phillips the author of the widely acclaimed book... "Body for Life."
You could say that Ryan was the secret weapon that Jackman used to build the rock hard physique that shows up on screen. For the film Ryan had, Hugh hit the weights hard.
The workout was structured in phases. Phase 1 was the bulking phase, phase 2 was the cutting cycle or leaning out phase.
The reason for training in phases is that it is very difficult to get six pack abs when you are trying to build muscle size. To gain more muscle you must increase your calories and you cannot cut back on your carbohydrate.
If you were cut back on your carbohydrate intake, you would not have sufficient energy to complete a grueling Wolverine workout session.
